Salisbury Chamber of Commerce

What an informative event we had yesterday morning!

We were privileged to be joined by Councillor Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council, for his annual update event with our members. Over the course of the morning, which was hosted at Trethowans, Richard brought the attendees up to date on a number of key topics, including issues affecting the wider Wiltshire area, such as planning, housing, infrastructure, decarbonisation and climate change, as well as Salisbury specific concerns, such as the River Park project, Fisherton Street, Council funding, supporting the aging population, highways and the drainage system as well as potholes!

Delegates were also given the opportunity to put their questions to Richard, which caused lively debate in the room! There are still questions about what comes next, particularly as the new Government settles in and the impending Budget, but the morning ended on a positive note as Richard spoke about the stability of Wiltshire Council as well as his goal for Councils to feel empowered to look after our city where we live and work.
